Student Assessment in HL Math
I will be using a variety of assessment strategies, whether it be the regular tests, quizzes, assignments and homework, or other creative manners through with can demonstrate your mastery of skills/concepts (i.e. model
building, producing videos/movies, teaching peers, etc ...)
Unit Tests These major assessments are usually the summative unit tests that take place at the end of each major unit and evaluate students' understanding of a wide range of concepts learned over a period of 4-6 weeks. |

IB Explorations Exploration type assignments will range in degrees of complexity and time commitments (daily, weekly, monthly). These written exploration styled assignments are given so that the students gain experience in performing and writing about mathematical investigations and modeling tasks. This practice will set the stage for students writing their IB Exploration |

PCPR (Preparation, Contribution/Classwork & Participation, Reflection) Preparation for class includes: Video Notes & Quizzes - These assessment tasks are one form of direct instruction for this semester and focus on watching videos that directly deal with algebraic processes in Math. Students take notes as they record the developing examples and then are quizzed on the math skill the next period Homework - Homework tasks are designed to practice concepts learned in recent lessons. Since mistakes are considered to be an important part of the learning process, homework tasks are graded on completion and effort rather than the accuracy of the work. Test Preparation Submissions - This requirement will see students submitting written evidence of having prepared for unit tests & quizzes Class Participation & Contribution - When class time is given for concept development discussions & explorations, class work & for assignments, students are expected to be on task and to be contributing to the development of the skill/topic within their groups & within the class. Participation & contribution is graded according to the linked rubric Reflection - Students will be asked to write & participate in periodic reflections upon their learning and their progress. One such example will be Test Corrections/Reflections |
